"Interestingly, Grammarly (app.grammarly.com) hardly ever got mentioned in the heated debate about using AI for writing."

This is an informative (and humorous) piece. Poetry is my principal writing and I hope never to be described as verbose or cloying. Though "whisper" is well-used :)

Congratulations on the subscribers! They won't be disappointed.

I've used Grammarly in the past but switched to ProWritingAid (I bought a copy) recently. It does a great job of finding errors, but also makes a lot of suggestions that I ignore.

When looking for suggestions, I've given the same prompt to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity as a way to compare replies. I end up writing in my own voice, but the variety of styles they provide pushes me to explore my own voice at a deeper level.

Thanks, Mark, I recognize that. I never find a text that I can use, but I have found words to use. Also, when stuck in finding the right way to say something, it can give useful guidance. The spellcheck revolution has been a lifesaver for me, and for so many non-native speakers of English.

This is fascinating! Thank you for the respective descriptions. I may delve into perhaps the Hemingway version because I expect it to be succinct and direct; I have difficulty in later years limiting TMI. Worked very hard in early professional years, scientific writing, to avoid redundancy but as I age, tend to ramble and go off topic.

There must be an age where rambling is legally allowed, I hope to reach that threshold soon. 😊

Thanks Alexander…I have been squeamish (bordering on scream-ish) about AI assistance. Worried about the dumbing down, reductive bottom denominator concerns and the environmental impact of using the all wheel drive monster truck when all I need is an old Toyota stick shift (ie google pre AI). But the winds are blowing it seems in one direction and I need to go with the flow at least enough to understand the currents. I’d be curious to learn if you use an AI assisted application to coherently categorize, save and organize your research for your very diverse writing projects and climate work.
